Boy Scouts
Summit Hill Boy Scout Troop 743 has changed the day of its weekly meetings. The Scouts meet on Sundays at 6 p.m. at the former St. Paul United Church of Christ, Summit Hill. For more information, contact Scoutmaster Dave Vidzicki, (570) 645-2510.
Memorial Mass
A Mass to memorialize parishioners who passes away in the past year will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill. Family and fellow parishioners are invited to this special Mass. An invitation will be sent out to all who have had a funeral in the parish in the past year.
Water authority
The Summit Hill Water Authority will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17, (third Tuesday) at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. John Michalik, president, will be in charge.
Food distribution
The Summit Hill Food Pantry conducts a monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Emma Weaver, (570) 645-7348.
The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.
The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions as a service project. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m., and are distributed on the fourth Tuesday (Nov. 24), starting at 9 a.m. The Second Harvest truck delivery of commodities (which needs to be unloaded) usually takes place on the last Thursday of the month. Lions Club members are reminded of these upcoming dates and can contact President Kenneth Vermillion for additional information on helping with the duties.
St. Paul Lutheran
The schedule for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for the week of Nov. 15 is as follows:
Sunday, Nov. 15 - Sunday school, 9 a.m.; service of worship, 10:30 a.m.; and Confirmation class, 6:30 p.m. Sunday is also the deadline for submitting articles for the church newsletter.
Tuesday, Nov. 17 - D.O.C.S. meeting, 7 p.m.
