Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Nov. 10 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 43 members in attendance. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine provided the invocation.
President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting and reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. Military veteran members were honored. Readings were offered by Shirley Becker, Jean Machamer and Florina Martin.
Members were reminded of the annual Christmas dinner, which is scheduled to be held Dec. 8 at the Ryan Township Fire Company.
The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, at the fire company. Anyone 50 years old or older is welcome to join.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery care will be provided. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school classes for all ages will begin at 11 a.m. The weekly service will be broadcast on radio station WLSH, 1410 AM, at 11:30 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, Spiritual Council meeting at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Bell Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
St. John's is sponsoring a Christmas Extravaganza on Nov. 28. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tables for demonstrators are still available at no charge. For further information, or to register, e-mail linderc08@verizon.net.
Writer's network
The Black Diamond Writers' network will meet Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St. Guest speaker will be Rick Grant. His topic will be social media outlets and their value to writers.
This will be a joint meeting with the Pennsylvania Women's Press Association.
The public is welcome to attend.

SW neighbors
The South Ward Neighborhood Committee meeting for November has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., in the manager's office, 230 Race St.
