McAdoo man will face trial on assault-related charges

A McAdoo man will face trial in Schuylkill County Court after assault-related charges were bound over during a preliminary hearing before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.

Paul Sholtis, 29, of 10 N. Kennedy Dr., was charged with simple assault, conspiracy to commit simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment following a Sept. 25 incident.

The charges were filed by McAdoo Chief of Police Jeffrey Wainwright. Bayer determined there was enough evidence to send all of the charges to the county courts for disposition.

Sholtis was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Other cases heard before Bayer in recent days include:

Brandon Scott Hosier, 26, of 232 Valley St., New Philadelphia, is also headed for trial in the county court. He was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct by Tamaqua Police Officer Maria Aracena.

The charges stem from a Sept. 10 incident.

Hosier was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Carl Rex Jr., 34, of 696 Spruce Dr., New Ringgold, was bound over to court on charges of criminal mischief and defiant trespass. The charges were filed by West Penn Township Police Chief Brian Johnson following an April 6 incident.

Rex was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Terrence L. Moore, 22, of 338 1/2 W. Abbott St., Lansford, will face court trial on charges of driving under the influence (DUI), driving with a suspended/revoked license and disregarding a traffic lane. The charges were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Robert Minnich following an Aug. 22 incident.

Moore was released on his own recognizance.

Bradley D. Rieker, 28, of 165 Hickon Rd., Quakertown, failed to appear for his hearing on charges of illegal operation of a motor vehicle and failure to use low beams.

The charges, brought by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse, stem from a Sept. 2 incident. They were bound over for court trial.

Ricky Nelson, 31, of 103 N. Lehigh St., Tamaqua, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.

The charges were filed by Tamaqua Sgt. Richard Weaver following an April 9 incident.

Additional charges, including criminal use of a communication facility and conspiracy were withdrawn.

Nelson was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Christopher A. Field, 18, of 214 E. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, also waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from an Oct. 2 incident and were filed by Tamaqua Sgt. Weaver.

Field was released on his own recognizance.

Laura Marie Hager, 18, of 118 W. High St., Nesquehoning, waived a hearing on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed by Sgt. Weaver stemming from an Oct. 2 incident.

Jonathan McCoy, 48, of 248 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, also elected to waive his rights. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to keep right.

He was charged by Rush Township Patrolman Jonathan McHugh following a Sept. 5 incident.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Robert J. Macharsky Jr., 36, of 222 W. Patterson St., Lansford, waived his right to a hearing on charges of providing false identification to law enforcement personnel and resisting arrest.

He was charged by Rush Township Patrolman Brian Thompson after a Sept. 17 incident.

He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
