The churches comprising the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network will hold a Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter's UMC, on Sunday, Nov. 22, beginning at 3 p.m. All are welcome to join in that service.

Thanksgiving dinner

Effort UMC will continue its tradition of hosting a Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, beginning at 2 p.m., Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.

Feeding families

This coming week is the time area food pantries are busy filling food baskets for neighbors in need. Those items given away will deplete much of the shelving at the food pantries. If the Boy Scout food drive missed you Saturday, two area food pantries will be happy to receive your donations, including the PVEN food pantry in Brodheadsville (McIlhaney) and the Effort UMC Supplemental Food Resource Center in Effort.

Their respective phone numbers are (570) 992-3136 and (570) 629-1890.

Lions' speaker

Western Pocono Lioness Club President Arlene Mullery will be the featured speaker at the Nov. 18 meeting of the Western Pocono Lions Club. That meeting is held at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg, beginning with a social time at 6:30 p.m.

School board

The Pleasant Valley School board will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at the district office in Brodheadsville.
