Children's Christmas Gift Program
Clients of the Northern Lehigh Food Bank have children, and children are the innocent victims of hardships that befall parents. Look around at what your children have … chests overflowing with toys, Wii and other computer games, books to read and to color. Many of these children have none of those, and won't be able to look forward to getting them from Santa this year either.
This is where the Children's Christmas Gift Program comes in. For those who would like to help make a child's holiday a bit brighter, there are several ways to make that happen. A child may be "adopted." You would be asked to purchase three gifts for a child, wrap them, and bring them to Friedens UCC, Route 873, Slatington, on Saturday, Dec. 12 for distribution later that day. Another option is to donate money for the Christmas Gift Program to purchase gifts for the child/children. No amount of money is too small; they are grateful for all donations. Still another option is to donate gift cards from stores where a child ranging in age from 0 years to 17 years would like to shop. This is a great idea for the older children and teenagers who may have special likes/dislikes.
For more information on this very worthwhile program and to find out how you can help, please call Janice Altrichter at (610) 767-5519. Thank you in advance for helping to make a child's Christmas brighter.
