Food Pantry
From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, the Carbon County Emergency Food Pantry, serving eligible individuals and families from Palmerton, Towamensing Township, Lower Towamensing Township, and Bowmanstown, will be open at the Community Service Building, 217 Franklin Ave., Palmerton.
Palmerton Library
The Palmerton Area Library has the following new release DVD's available for borrowing: Ghosts of Girlfriends Past; The Proposal; Monsters vs. Aliens; X-Men Origins; Wolverine; The Soloist; Race to Witch Mountain; Duplicity; Coraline; Transformers; and Sunshine Cleaning. All new movies are free for patrons for two weeks. Check out the library Web site at www.palmertonarealibrary.com to see what other movies are available, or to put a movie on hold. New movies arrive weekly.
The library is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check the Web site for a complete list of activities and opportunities.
Thanksgiving Day Meal
A free community Thanksgiving Day meal will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Call (610) 826-2611.
