Tax appeals by school districts have increased values over $19M
The efforts of a number of school districts to increase property assessments has realized an increase of $19,97,335 over the current year, according to a report released by Virginia D. Murray, chief Schuylkill County Assessor.
Ms. Murray reported the valuations of Schuylkill County for tax year 2010 was, real estate, fair market value at $4,918,396.366 and the assessed valuation based on 50 percent predetermined ratio is $2,459,198,780. This includes $10,315,900 as the assessed value for active mineral and $2,205,310 as the assesed value for county held mineral.
Under the homestead medium value school districts in the county will share $25,935 from gambling establishments in the state.
The market value on 142 county held commercial buildings is fixed at $2,673,345 and the assessed value at $1,336,675; on two industrial buildings, market value at $304,220 and assessment at $152,110; on 24 mineral sites, market value $16,430,24 and assessment at $8,215,175; and on 756 vacant parcels, market value set at $4,664,190 and assessment at $2,332,095.
The taxable properties are as follows:
On 5,546 commercial buildings, total market value is $905,595,036; on 461 industrial buildings, total market value is $229,635,195; and assessment at $114,817,610; on 2,296 mineral rights, the total market value is $20,631,800 ;and assessment at $875,320; on 62,376 residential bulidings, the total market value is $3,606,915,772 and assessment at $`1,803,458,450; and on 16,981 vacant parcels, the total market value is $153,867,925 and assessment at $76,933,955.
Wholly exempt properties are as follows:
On 3,221 commercial buildings, market value is $628,821,200 and assessment, $314,410,610; on one industrial site, market value is $17,070 and assessed at $8,535; on 137 residential properties, market value total is $8,419,940 and assessment at $4,209,970; on 274 vacant parcels, total market value is $3,550,350 and assessment, $1,775,137 and on 173 utilities, total market value is $7,556,174 and assessment, $3,778,085.
School districts, led by Blue Mountain, with Tamaqua Area, North Schuylkill, Pine Grove Area, Minersville Area and Pottsville Area joining in where the leaders in filing appeals to raise assessments.
