President William McCann of the sub-district, United Mine Workers, had an interview with T. D. Lewis, general superintendent of the Lehigh Navigation Coal Co., relative to operating all the collieries in the Panther Creek Valley next week so that all the workers in the company might have a pay coming for the Christmas holidays. Mr. Lewis was responsive to the suggestion. However, at the present time, demand for coal is slight and unless weather conditions change, it will not be possible to operate more than two collieries.
