A game for the ages

Published November 21. 2009 09:00AM

Dear Editor:

Saturday evening, Nov. 14, 2009, I had the pleasure to witness an excellent football game and the atmosphere of a playoff game. Wow! What a game! Players who exhibited skills and abilities that both sides must praise. The game was played hard and fair, while bands played with pride and precision, cheerleaders who screamed their support of their respective sides. This was the environment I sat and observed. Fans screaming approval or their criticism of events. Yes, this was achieved in a friendly and competitive environment called "coal region football."

After leaving the game, I came to the conclusion that there were "no losers" during this event. Athletes on both sides pushing themselves beyond their abilities and physical levels. This is a game that will go down in history as one of the very best to have been played or observed. I commend the sportsmanship, the entertainment and the behavior of both schools.

I shall conclude by stating there were no losers - only winners who participated and viewed this game.

Thank you Panthers and Raiders for a wonderful evening. You made everyone proud.

Sincerely,

Trevor Lawrence Sr.
