Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers recently on Schuylkill County roadways.
A crash occurred about 7:34 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, along SR61 in the area of the Fairlane Village Mall in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Carol A. Wilkins, of Hanover Township, was stopped for a traffic light at the intersection with Tunnel Road and Melody N. Cooney, of Ashland, was slowing down to stop. Nancy L. Stewart, of Pottsville, failed to stop with the front of her 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier hitting the rear of Cooney's 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt pushing it into the rear of Wilkins' 2001 2003 Toyota Camry.
Stewart was slightly injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville. The other two drivers were not injured. Damages were moderate to the Cavalier and Cobalt and none to the Camry.
A crash was reported at 6:16 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, along SR813 north of Blue Mountain Road, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Steven A. Kohr, of Schuylkill Haven, was southbound in a 2003 Jeep Liberty when stopped for a deer on the road. Randy Allan Stoneroad, of Tremont, driving a 2004 Freightliner Columbia truck was behind him and was unable to stop with the front of his truck hitting the rear of the Liberty.
Kohr sustained a minor injury in the crash with damages minor the truck. The Liberty had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Stoneroad for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
