Second woman dies of injuries from accident

The driver of a vehicle in which a Slatington woman died early Saturday morning has also succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

Amy Chamberlain, 23, of 8643 Furnace Rd., Slatington, Washington Township, died at 5 p.m. Monday at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was flown to the hospital by PennStar helicopter following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday along Best Station Road in Washington Township.

Chamberlain was driving eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle while rounding a curve. The vehicle crossed the westbound lane and struck a tree. Chamberlain's passenger, Michelle A. Pagano, 21, of 6322 River View Rd., Slatington, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:28 a.m. She died of blunt force trauma, the Lehigh County Coroner's office ruled.

Chamberlain died of head injuries, the coroner's office said.
