Cell phone blamed for Monroe mishap

A driver checking her cell phone was blamed for a one-vehicle crash in Monroe County. State police at Fern Ridge said the crash occurred about 3:25 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, along SR715 in Jackson Township.

Troopers said Lindsey Ruggiero, 22, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2000 Nissan Xterra southbound when she looked at her cell phone to see who called. The vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole.

Ruggiero sustained a minor injury in the crash, troopers said.

Troopers cited Ruggiero for careless driving.
