Crusaders For A Cause donate $1,000 to cancer center
A local organization has once again stepped up to the plate.
This time, Crusaders For A Cause has made a $1,000 donation to the Abramson Cancer Center to assist with research to find a cure for non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Last month, Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders For A Cause, met with Dr. John Glick of the Perleman Center For Advanced Medicine, part of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
At that, time, Obrecht presented a check in honor of Dr. John Glick for his exceptional work in the field of Oncology. The University of Pennsylvania is rated No. 2 in the nation for best hospitals.
"I was very grateful that our Crusaders group agreed to donate the money since Dr. Glick is also my oncologist," Obrecht said. "I probably would not be here today if it were not for him."
The donation is the most recent in a long list of contributions the organization has made within the last month alone.
Last month, the group donated an Automated External Defibrillator to the Palmerton Police Department.
Obrecht said the organization raised $1,400 through a coin pitch to purchase the device, the first of its kind for the department.
One week later, the group presented two fire hose nozzles to the Parryville Volunteer Fire Department. Each nozzle sells for $280.
At present, the organization is selling fragrant candles to help raise funds for local fire departments. Anyone who would like to buy a candle may contact Obrecht at 610-390-1655.
A Palmerton-based charitable organization, Crusaders For A Cause was incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania on May 22 under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of 1988 as amended, to help raise money for various charities.
Those charities include Relay For Life/American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, and many other community causes or projects.
