LCCC to offer welding classes
Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer classes in welding as part of its Job Training courses for the upcoming semester. Students will develop skills in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) in the flat and horizontal positions and on a variety of joints, such as fillets and grooves. Safety glasses, welding gloves, work boots, straight leg pants, and long sleeve shirts are required.
The following noncredit classes will all be held at Welder Training and Testing Institute, 729 East Highland Street in Allentown.
Course #TEC 634-50 Welding I, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 5 - Feb. 18, 6-9 p.m.
Course #TEC 635-50 Welding II, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 23 - April 8, 6-9 p.m.
New for Spring 2010, LCCC will offer a Structural Welding Course, which, in addition to the skills taught in Welding I & II, this course incorporates welding techniques used in both Gas Metal Arc and Flux-cored Arc and performing welding operation in vertical positions.
