No place for road rage

Published November 28. 2009 09:00AM

Dear Editor:

I am hoping you can post a message to the road ragers of our community.

I live with my family on busy Mahoning St. in Lehighton. I know little can be done about the traffic noise, but the conduct of the drivers can definitely be improved. Speeding, peeling out, bumping loud music late at night- all take a toll on our quality of life. However, the most offensive behavior comes from men and women with bad tempers and vulgar mouths. Even with the windows closed, we can hear people screaming obscenities.

Just moments ago, a man (middle aged, moderately overweight, Caucasian, driving a white Mercedes, (ask him to calm down if you know him) jumped out of his car at the stop light to yell at and threaten a NEMF truck driver. Aside from his foul language, his outburst turned violent when he punched the side of the truck. This is not the first of such incidents and I worry that some day they may get more serious.

Please be considerate when traveling through residential areas. We'd like to raise our child in a safe and comfortable environment.

Thank you

Amber Breiner
