Returns home from Afghanistan

Air Force Capt. Amy T. Stahler has returned to the U.S. after a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Active duty and reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been deployed to support the war against global terrorism outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.

Stahler, an officer in charge of U.S. Communications Projects with seven years of military service, is assigned to the 86th Communications Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

She is the daughter of Ronald E. and stepdaughter of Brenda V. Stahler of Watson Park Blvd., Lehighton.

Her mother and stepfather, Cheryl A. and Dale Keifer, reside on Deer Lane, Andreas.

The captain graduated in 1997 from Tamaqua Area High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2002 from Pennsylvania State University, State College.
