State police at Frackville investigated two crashes along SR895, five-tenths of a mile south of SR443, in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred moments apart and included a pedestrian being hit who stopped to aid persons injured in the initial crash. Troopers said about 1:35 a.m. Scott Reed, 24, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer southbound when he lost control while negotiating a left curve. The Ford first entered the north lane, then Reed counter-steered to the right causing the vehicle to go off the road and strike an embankment. The vehicle then began to travel back onto the road and then rolled over, coming to rest in the northbound lane. Reed was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville, while his passenger, Holly Motley, 27, of Schuylkill Haven, was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by Medevac helicopter. Troopers said at 1:40 a.m. Jonathan D. Faust, 22, of Andreas, came upon the first accident scene driving a 2000 Dodge Neon northbound. His Neon struck Mark G. Brensinger, 23, of New Ringgold, a pedestrian who was assisting Reed and Motley. Faust and an unidentified passenger were not injured. Brensinger was flown by LVH by a Medevac helicopter for treatment of injuries. Troopers said Reed was under the influence of alcohol with a driving under the influence (DUI) charge pending blood test results. Reed also faces several motor vehicle code violations, troopers added. Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the New Ringgold Fire Company and ambulances from New Ringgold, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill Haven and Pottsville.
