Private James J. Reppert of the Pennsylvania National Guard, a Slatington R. 1 resident, received the National Guard Association of the United States' Valley Forge Cross during ceremonies at the association's 100th annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Reppert was cited for his efforts in Johnstown, Pa., in the aftermath of disastrous flooding, when he risked serious injury or death to steer a runaway car away from a crowded area.
