Members of the Tamaqua area fire departments gathered at Tamaqua Elementary School on Tuesday to teach students about the importance of fire prevention and safety during the annual Fire Prevention Week.

This year's program centered around fire extinguishers, explained Chris Hadesty, paramedic lieutanent of the American Hose Fire Company.

Each class had the opportunity to visit different stations that were set up on the school grounds during the day.
