To pray rosary
The Third Annual Public Square Rosary will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at noon at Kennedy Park in Lansford. Other rallies will be held at the War Memorial on Third Street in Coaldale; in front of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, Lansford; in Ludlow Park, Summit Hill; and in front of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.
Participants are asked to bring their lawn chairs.
Nesquehoning
Zion Lutheran Church
Morning worship begins Sunday at 9 a.m. The sermon title is "Who do you Love?" There is also a children's sermon each week. The pastor is the Rev. John Hazel, (570) 645-3469. Visitors are always welcome.
The parish council will meet at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 at Zion. Zion's church council will meet immediately following the parish council meeting.
Coffee Hour will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Halloween party
The Nesquehoning Recreation Commission will once again sponsor a Halloween party for children of Nesquehoning, age 10 and under, on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center.
Please register on Wednesdays during bingo from 5-10 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran
The schedule for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for the week of Oct. 11 is as follows:
Sunday, Oct. 11 - Sunday school, 9 a.m.; and worship service, 10:30 a.m., followed by rehearsal of the anniversary choir.
Tuesday, Oct. 13 - church council meeting, 7 p.m.
Presbyterian Church
The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, formerly the First Presbyterian Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill, resumed its regular worship service schedule on Sunday, Sept. 20. It is as follows:
Sunday school and adult Bible study, 9 a.m.; and worship service, 10:30 a.m. Communion will be celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
Pastor recuperating
The Rev. James Burdess, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, is recuperating from emergency surgery last week. Cards and get-well wishes can be sent to him in c/o his brother, Michael Burdess, 300 S. Nichols Ave., St. Clair, Pa. 17970.
Lighting of graves
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced its plans for its annual Lighting of the Graves observance for All Souls and All Saints days. The ceremony serves to remind church members and friends of those who have passed away.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the lighting of the luminaries at the parish's White Bear cemetery will take place after the 4 p.m. Mass.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, the lighting will take place at 6 p.m. at the parish's Summit Hill cemetery.
The preparation of the luminaries will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. in the church hall.
