Senior Fair

This Friday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the 4th Annual Senior Fair co-hosted by state Reps. Mike Carroll and John Siptroth, will take place at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert. Admission is free and free blood pressure and hearing screenings will be offered. Also being offered are free flu shots for seniors who have Medicare Part B.

Other activities will be ongoing and vendors with information geared to seniors will be there as well.

Senior center

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, free blood pressure screenings will be offered at the Chestnuthill Senior Center from 10 to 11 a.m.

A "Diabetes Overview will be offered there at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, by Dr. Farhana Nasirullah.

Zion's seniors

The Senior Citizen's Group at Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will gather at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15. Participants are reminded to bring a sandwich. Beverages are provided.

Pet blessing

On Oct. 18, at 3 p.m., Zion Lutheran will host a pet blessing.

PV Diversity

The Pleasant Valley School District Diversity Taskforce will meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the district office in Brodheadsville.

German-American Club

The monthly meeting of the German American Society of the Poconos will be held Monday, Oct. 19, at the Elks Building in East Stroudsburg, beginning at 2 p.m. A video will be shown after the meeting.

Lions DG Visit

The Western Pocono Lions Club will welcome District Governor Bob Neumoyer for his official visit at the club's next meeting, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg. The evening begins with a social time at 6:30 p.m.

Two new members, Michael Carroll and Kenneth Lursen, will be installed.

PV Leo Club

Pleasant Valley High School's Leo Club will soon be more readily recognizable. Members plan to purchase polo shirts with the club name included on the shirts.

Club members will escort parents to classrooms for conferences with high school teachers on Oct. 19, from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

The club has also begun its recycling fundraiser. Being accepted are cell phones, ink jet cartridges, laptop computers, Apple iPods, digital cameras, and digital video cameras.

Kick-off meeting

Women of the ELCA of Zion Lutheran Church will be holding the kick-off meeting at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Monroe County Bible Club

Monroe County Bible Club will hold its annual adult banquet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, at Camp Streamside in Reeders.
