Schuylkill woman facing charges
A Schuylkill County woman is facing charges following an incident in which she took a vehicle and was later apprehended with it. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident began about 2:26 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6.
According to troopers Angela Nicole Schaeffer, 20, of Blue Mountain Heights, Schuylkill Haven, arrived at the home of Bryon David Ward, 39, of 4 Deer Trail Drive, North Manheim Township, and entered his unlocked vehicle. Once inside she started the vehicle using the keys that were left in the ignition.
She attempted to back the vehicle out of the driveway but struck a tree with the rear bumper. She then pulled forward striking a corner post on the carport with the front bumper knocking the post over. Schaeffer then reversed the vehicle and struck the corner post on the other side of the carport knocking it over. She then finally was successful in making a three-point turn in the driveway and left.
Schaeffer drove the car to the Schuylkill Medical Center at S. Jackson St., Pottsville, where she encountered officer Charles Webber of the Pottsville city police who took her into custody. Troopers said Ward was asleep inside his home when the incident occurred.
Schaeffer was charged with theft by unlawful taking or dispositon and criminal mischief.
