Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers that occurred along Schuylkill County roadways on Monday, Oct. 12.
A crash occurred about 6:06 a.m. along SR125 in Pine Grove. Troopers said Matthew K. Dietrich, 17, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2009 Ford Ranger northbound near the Tremont Township line when, for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate a slight left curve in the road. The pickup truck left the road and struck a rural mailbox then sideswiped a small tree.
After impact with the tree the truck spun 18-degrees clockwise and came to rest on the northbound berm facing south.
Dietrich was not injured but the Ranger had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Dietrich for roadways laned for traffic.
The second crash occurred about 9:15 p.m. along Ann St., near Maimies Ave., in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Justin M. Terry, 27, of Minersville, was southbound and negotiating a right hand curve while driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.
Terry lost control of the vehicle which began to spin in a clockwise direction and traveled across the northbound lane for about 93 feet. The rear of the car then struck an embankment on the northbound berm. After impact the Cobalt then rolled onto the driver's side and then the roof, traveling an additional 29 feet south.
The car came to rest on its roof facing west and blocking the northbound lane.
Terry sustained a minor injury in the accident and was treated at the scene. Troopers cited Terry for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
