Custody dispute leads to school disturbance

Published October 17. 2009 09:00AM

A Schuylkill Haven woman embroiled in a custody dispute has been cited after causing a disturbance at St. Jerome's Regional School in Tamaqua on Wednesday.

Donna Staskel, 48, of 1177 Schuylkill Mountain Rd., Schuylkill Haven, went to her son's school on Wednesday afternoon and attempted to take physical custody of the youngster, despite a court order forbidding such action. St. Jerome's Principal Mary Ann Mansell observed Staskel pulling the child from a bus line at approximately 3:30 p.m. Aware of the family's custody situation, Principal Mansell called police, then went to the student's assistance.

Officers had to physically remove the child from Staskel's grasp. The youngster was returned to the school to await the arrival of his father.

Staskel was cited for disorderly conduct.
