October 16, 1965 Joe Mikruk scores a first-quarter touchdown and it stands up the rest of the way as Tamaqua gains its first win of the season with a 6-0 decision over Pleasant Valley. Mikruk, who carries 16 times for 134 yards, completes an 18-play, 71-yard Raider drive with a four-yard TD run. Tamaqua's defense comes up with two big stops to preserve the shutout once stopping the Bears on down on the nine and the other when Mike Hromyak recovers a fumble on the 10.
