Lehighton spikers beat Catty

Lehighton handed Catasauqua a loss in non-league volleyball by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-5.

Madelyn Zurn had four assists and five aces for the Indians, while Lauren Jankowski had two kills and two digs.

Lehighton also won the junior varsity game by scores of 25-12, 25-17.

District 11 Doubles

All three TIMES NEWS doubles teams lost in first-round action at the West End Racquet Center.

Jim Thorpe's duo of Anna Domingo and Eilyn Tomko fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to Moravian Academy's Tara Jain and Maggie Reilly.

Tamaqua had two doubles teams in districts, and both lost in straight sets.

Cassie Martin and Kristina Zwolenik fell 6-1, 6-4, to Moravian Academy's Lauren Comes and Kaja Niewiarska, while Jordan Nowacki and Vanessa Wagner dropped 6-0, 6-0 decisions to Morgan Oechsle and Megan Werner of Southern Lehigh.
