Indians win showdown
Lehighton picked up an impressive non-league field hockey victory to highlight Saturday's scholastic sports action.

Lehighton-Selinsgrove
In a battle of unbeaten powerhouses, Vanessa Rimbey's first half goal proved to be the game-winner as the Indians pulled out a 1-0 win over Selinsgrove. Rimbey deflected a shot by Corri McConville for the game's lone goal.
Selinsgrove knocked Lehighton out of the state playoffs a year ago, so some redemption was met, as the Tribe earned the win in a game played on Pleasant Valley's turf field.
Lehighton had a 9-2 edge in shots. Goalie Sarah Snyder made two saves to record the shutout.
The Indians improved to 17-0 on the season. Selisgrove is now 16-1.
Lehighton will return to action when it hosts the MVC semifinals on Wednesday. It will face East Stroudsburg South.
Bangor-Pleasant Valley
Pleasant valley posted a 3-2 decision over non-league opponent Bangor.
Felecia Domenici and Allison Heckman provided the locals with a 2-0 halftime lead, only to see the Slaters battle back and tie the game.
In a game where both teams had eight shots on goal, Alanna Liptak provided the Bears' game-winner.
PV improves to 9-7-2 while Bangor falls to 12-5.

Lehighton-Dieruff
Dieruff rolled to a 9-2 a non-league victory over Lehighton.
Steffon Kellman had a hat trick in the contest while teammate Elias Abouafech added two goals.
Dieruff outshot the Indians 16-1 in the game to earn their second win of the season.
