Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Oct. 13 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 50 members in attendance. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine provided the invocation.
President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting and reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. Birthday greetings were extended to Louise Horn. Get well cards were sent to Sene Horan, who is at the Hometown Nursing Center, and Gayle Wall, who is at the Schuylkill Medical Center in Pottsville.
The group discussed the annual Christmas dinner, which is scheduled to be held Dec. 8 at the Ryan Township Fire Company.
The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, at the fire company. Anyone 50 years old or older is welcome to join.
Amnesty week
The Tamaqua Public Library will hold its Fall Amnesty Week from Oct. 18 through Oct. 25. All fines on overdue books will be waived during that time period.
