Lehigh man gets jail time for drug charge

A Lehigh County man was sentenced to a Carbon County prison term on Monday on a drug charge.

Raymond Babio, 40, of 415 E. Hamliton St., Allentown, was sentenced by Judge David W. Addy to serve 24 to 48 months in prison on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver-methamphetamine.

Babio was arrested on Dec. 11, 2007, at SR895 and Bank St. in Bowmanstown by agents of the state Attorney General's office.

Addy also ordered Babio to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, supply a DNA sample and pay to $250 fee, and render 50 hours of community service.

He was given credit for 17 days spent in prison on the charge and was granted immediate work release privileges.
