Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating several crashes along Schuylkill County roadways on Friday, Oct 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17.

A one vehicle crash was reported on Saturday about 3:05 a.m. along Sweet Arrow Lake Road, in Washington Township. Troopers said Tricia Seidel, 20, of Tremont, was eastbound while it was raining and failed to negotiate a left curve in her 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck on the wet road. The truck went onto the berm and struck an embankment, then spun counter-clockwise along the embankment and came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Seidel and her passenger, Amanda Walters, 19, of Pottsville, were not injured. Damages were disabling to the vehicle.

Troopers said Seidel was cited.

On Saturday about 10:35 p.m. a one vehicle crash occurred along Browns Church Road, at SR895, in Washington Township. Troopers said Carl Spece, 49, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram truck southbound when he struck some wet leaves on the road causing him to lose control. The truck went onto the west berm and into a ditch. After impact with the ditch the truck turned onto the passenger side and came to rest.

Spece and a juvenile passenger were not injured. Damages were moderate to the truck, which had to be towed.

Troopers investigated another crash on Saturday about 11 a.m. along SR183, in Wayne township. Troopers said Ashley J. Noecker, 21, of Auburn, was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry southbound near the intersection with SR895 when she told police the windows on her car began to fog up. She tried to stop but due to the wet road she lost control. The car crossed the double yellow line and entered the northbound lane and onto the berm where it struck the guide rail. Noecker was not injured. Troopers said she will be cited.

Troopers investigated a vehicle fire incident that occurred Saturday about 4:35 p.m. along SR61 near Municipal Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Christine M. Kaiser, 31, of Minersville, was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer northbound when a fire erupted in the engine compartment. She was able to pull the vehicle off the road and into a parking lot of a local mini-mart. Kaiser and her passenger, Matthew Livingood, 33, also of Minersville, were not injured. Deer Lake Fire Company responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Two, two vehicle crashes occurred about 2:05 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, along SR61 at the intersection wtih Richard St., in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Philip T. Dengler, 39, of Seltzer, was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla southbound in the left passing lane and was attempting to make a left turn onto Richard St. when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1993 Chrysler Concorde driven by Sharon L. Wolfgang, 57, of Shamokin. No one was injured with damages severe to the Toyota and moderate to the Chrysler.

At the same location a 2009 Hyundai Sonota driven by Mary Goodwillie, 59, of York, also on the left passing lane, was struck in the rear by a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina operated by Bradley Brandt, 56, of Lebanon. Goodwillie was slowing down when her vehicle was struck. No one was injured. Damages were moderate to both vehicle which were driven from the scene.
