Crashes probed
State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes probed by troopers.
A crash occurred about 6:47 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, along SR115 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Jessica E. Broy, 55, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. The vehicle struck the deer with the front end causing disabling damages to the vehicle. Broy was not injured, troopers said.
A crash was reported about 3:10 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, along SR715 at Bonser Drive, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Alberto Aceman, 60, of Saylorsburg, was northbound in a 1999 Toyota Corolla, while Sarah Deatt, 19, also of Saylorsburg, was southbound in a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. Troopers said Aceman attempted to turn left onto Bonser Road and his vehicle struck the Volkswagen. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, troopers said, and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
A two-vehicle crash was reported on Monday at 7:46 a.m. at the intersection of Price and Jackson roads in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Dean R. Shafer Jr., 22, of Stroudsburg, stopped for a stop sign on Price and proceeded to make a right turn onto Jackson when Nicole M. Lombardi, 21, of Reeders, turned left from Jackson onto Price.
Lombardi made the turn and struck the driver side front fender area of Shafer's 1993 Ford stepside van with the driver side front area of her 2008 Dodge Caliber. No one was injured.
Troopers cited Lombardi for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers reported on a crash that occurred about 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 12 along Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Herbert F. Fenton, 63, of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., was eastbound in a 2008 Toyota Corolla when he struck a deer that had entered the road in front of his vehicle. No one was injured. Troopers cited Fenton for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
Another crash was probed on I80 on Monday about 12:20 p.m. in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Harold L. Fleming, 67, of Florence, S.C., was eastbound and Robert W. Soboleski, 45, of Swoyersville, Luzerne County, was westbound. For unknown reasons Soboleski's 2005 Chevrolet Aveo left the roadway, went down and crossed over the median and struck the driver's side of Fleming's 1999 Kenworth tractor with trailer.
Soboleski was injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center Wyoming, in Plains Township, Luzerne County, by Pocono Mountain ambulance. Fleming was not injured. Damages were major to the Chevrolet and minor to the truck.
Troopers cited Soboleski for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
