Monroe resident facing DUI charge

A Monroe County resident is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) and a drug counts following an incident that occurred along SR115 at Long Pond Road, in Blakeslee.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 5:53 a.m .on Monday, Oct. 19, officers observed a Chevrolet Cobalt parked on the side of the road with the engine running. Police then observed a female slumped over the steering wheel.

The woman was identified as Nicole Shoemaker, of Kunkletown. She had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for DUI. Police said a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found in her possession.

Shoemaker refused to sumbit to a blood test. She will be charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
