Man found drunk in his wheelchair

A Tamaqua man has been cited following a Friday incident on East Broad Street.

Police officers were dispatched to the area of 201 E. Broad St. at 6 p.m. to deal with a man slumped over in a wheelchair. At the scene they found Gerald Lech, 53, of 201 E. Broad St. in his wheelchair on the corner of Broad and Pine streets. Lech was apparently asleep with his head almost in his lap. Officers woke him and detected a strong odor of alcohol on his person. They also discovered a cup filled with what appeared to be rum and coke.

Lech was cited for public drunkenness.
