Nine waive hearings, bound over for trial

A number of defendants failed to appear for their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, last week. All had their cases bound over for trial in the Schuylkill County Courts.

Stanley William Kieffer, 21, of 344 Arlington St., Tamaqua, was bound over for trial on charges of unathorized use of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended/revoked license, failure to carry a license, failure to wear proper eye protection and failure to wear proper headgear. The charges were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Robert Minnick following a Sept. 22 incident.

Timothy O'Brien, 20, of 362 W. Kline Ave., Lansford, was bound over on charges filed by Coaldale Patrolman Minnick. The charges include possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended/revoked license and failure to use low beams. The charges stem from a March 7 incident.

Catherine Capece, 34, of 331 W. Green St., Hazleton, was bound over on charges of providing false identification to law enforcement, driving with a suspended/revoked license and failure to have proper tires on her vehicle. The charges stem from a Sept. 12 incident and were filed by West Penn Township Police Chief Brian Johnson.

Leroy D. Stevens, 44, of 122 E. Ruddle St., Coaldale, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Police Sgt. Richard Weaver following a Sept. 3 incident.

Stevens was released on his own recognizance.

Patrick Matthew Partington, 21, of Saylorsburg, also elected to waive his preliminary hearing. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, accidents involving an unattended unit, careless driving, driving with a suspended/revoked license and speeding. The charges stem from an Aug. 5 accident and were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Bynon.

Partington was released on his own recognizance.

Anthony Pascoe, 23, of 201 E.Kline Ave., Lansford, waived a hearing on charges of DUI, driving with a revoked/suspended license, driving under suspenson-DUI related, driving with an obstructed window, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. The charges were filed by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse following an Aug. 29 incident.

Pascoe was released on his own recognizance.

Mark J. Bischof, 53, of West Penn Township, also elected to waive his right to a preliminary hearing. Township Chief Brian Johnson charged him with simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment following a July 11 incident.

Bischof was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Sloane P. Culbert, 21, of 99 Jones St., Quakake, waived a hearing on charges of DUI. He was charged by Rush Township Patrolman Jonathan McHugh following a July 12 incident.

Culbert was released on his own recognizance.

Bryan Dementri, 19, of 87 Church Rd., Jim Thorpe, waived a hearing on charges of DUI and underage drinking and driving that stem from an Aug. 16 incident. Charges of corruption of minors and purchasing alcohol for minors were withdrawn by the arresting officer, Coaldale Patrolman Robert Minnick.

Dementri was released on his own recognizance.

Jeffrey Marcotte, 33, of Hazleton, agreed to plead guilty to charges of displaying a registration in the improper vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended/revoked license and driving without insurance. Charges of receiving stolen property and failure to carry a license were withdrawn by the arresting officer, Rush Township Patrolman Robert Minnick.

George J. Fisher, 67, of 44 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, agreed to plead guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs. A charge of retail theft was withdrawn. The charges stem from an Aug. 8 incident.

Jason R. Steinbrunn, 19, of 100 Dorset St., New Ringgold, had an offensive weapons charge withdrawn by West Penn Township Patrolman Danielle Mowery.

Christopher W. Hummel, 19, of 510 McIntosh Lane, Andreas, had charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property withdrawn by Rush Township Patrolman Brian Thompson.

Trevor A. Snyder, 21, of 577 Blue Mountain Dr., Andreas, had a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia withdrawn by Tamaqua Patrolman Jonathan McHugh.

Christine Oxner, 38, of 51 Hollow Ave., MaryD, had charges of simple assault and harassment dismissed.
