One injured in Carbon crash
One person was injured in a two vehicle crash in Carbon County that occurred on Thursday. It was one of several crashes investigated by state police at Fern Ridge.
Troopers said the Carbon crash occurred along SR903 at Old Stage Road, in Penn Forest Township. Troopers said John Napoline, 16, of Jim Thorpe, was northbound with Amy Statkiewicz, 32, of Wilkes-Barre, behind him. Napoline started to turn right onto Old Stage and then traveled back onto 903. Napoline's 1997 Chrysler Sebring struck Statkiewicz's 2008 Kia Rio, troopers said.
Statkiewicz was injured and taken to the Blue Mountain Health Systems Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton, for treatment of a back injury. Napoline was not injured, troopers added. The Kia had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers investigated a crash about 6:58 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, along Interstate 80 in East Side Boro, Carbon County. Troopers said Dolores M. Sotack, 72, of Weatherly, slowed down and her 2005 Honda Odyssey was struck in the rear by a 1999 Chevrolet Extended cab van driven by Ricky D. Coxe, 47, of White Haven.
Troopers said Sotack sustained a minor injury in the mishap but did not require medical attention.
A one vehicle accident occurred about 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, along I80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Christopher G. Hindson, 28, of Blakeslee, was westbound when a deer entered the road in front of his 2004 Honda CRV. The Honda struck the deer with its front end. Hindson was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
