Fire destroys Monroe home

A Monroe county home was destroyed by fire Sunday morning in Hamilton Township. Passersby noticed the flames leaping form a vacant home set in a heavy wooded area just off Shiffer Road near Shafer Road. Firefighters had a difficult time reaching the burning dwelling since the road leading to the scene is only a matter of a few feet wide. The only portion of the home that remains is the fireplace and the concrete foundation walls.
