The Slatington Library accepts used books - hard back or paperback for adults and children.
Just drop them off at the library.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. They are closed Thursday and Sunday. Call (610) 767-6461 or visit them on the Web at slatlib@ptd.net.
Monument rededication ceremony
The Vigilant Fire Company No. 2, Slatington, announces that its Vigilant Fire Company's Firemen's Monument, located in Union Cemetery, Slatington will be rededicated and unveiled with a ceremony at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, as part of the monument's 100th anniversary.
A number of local fire companies, clergy, dignitaries and descendants of those responsible for the erection of the monument will be on hand and be part of the ceremony.
The ceremony will be held rain or shine.

Women's Club meeting
The GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Slatington will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church on Second Street in Slatington.
The evening's program will feature a covered dish dinner followed by a business meeting.
Members can get further details for the dinner in the fall newsletter.
Any interested area women are welcome to attend.
