Child struck by car in Schuylkill accident

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Paula J. Kelly, 45, of Harrisburg, was driving a 2001 Saturn LS1 southbound in the area of 332 W. Grand Ave. (SR209), in Porter Township, when the child entered the travel lane from between two parked cars. Kelly was unable to avoid the child, troopers said, with the right front of the car hitting the female.

The girl, whose name troopers did not release, was flown by PennStar helicopter to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of what troopers said were severe-life threatening injuries. Kelly and her passenger, Marlene Bulman, 58, of Grande Point, Md., were not injured.
