CSCT seeks talent for two upcoming shows

Published October 05. 2009 02:55PM

The Carbon/Schuylkill Community Theatre announces auditions for the November "Cabaret Evening" and the December holiday show, "Santa Goes Green."

Needed for "Santa Goes Green" are children ages 8 and up who are not afraid to sing and dance, as well as teens and adults of any age, who will be singing, dancing, or "moving."

The role of Santa is primarily an acting part, but he will be expected to "move." The entire show is under an hour in length, and will rehearse at The Studio in Lansford on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from approximately 7-8:30 p.m. for kids, and until 9 p.m. for adults. Rehearsals begin in October. Anticipated performance dates are Dec. 19 and 20.

Needed for the "Cabaret Evening" are adult singers and instrumentals.

Performers for most numbers selected for the cabaret will rehearse on their own, but it may be possible to pair a few up for duets and small ensembles. Anticipated performance date is Nov. 22.

Auditions will be held at The Studio, 255-257 E. Ridge St., Lansford, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and Thursday Sept. 24 from 7-8:30 p.m.

There will not be an accompanist present, so bring a CD or tape to sing with, or call ahead to see if they have the accompaniment to a song you are familiar with. If not, they will vocalize you to get a sense of your range. You will also be given a short movement or dance combination, if you tap, please bring your shoes. Some may be asked to read.

Both events will be directed and choreographed by Janet Sager. For more information, contact her at jjsager@ptd.net, or phone at (570) 325-2317.
