Monroe man jailed for assaulting trooper

A Monroe County man was jailed on Sept. 8 for allegedly assaulting a state trooper.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred about 7:50 p.m. at 1810 Main Drive, Stone Crest, in Tunkhannock Township.

Troopers said Aczel Rico, of that address, was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest when he swung at a trooper and failed to comply with officers' orders to place his hands behind his back. He was placed in the county prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. Troopers did not indicate why they were at the listed address.
