A Palmerton driver was injured, and is facing a possible driving under the influence (DUI) charge, following a crash about 7:34 p.m. Wednesday along Fireline Road, near Cherry Hill Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. State police at Lehighton said Luther Strohl, 59, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when, for unknown reason, he lost control. The truck left the road and crashed head-on into a tree. Strohl had to be freed from the wreckage by volunteers of the Aquashicola Fire Company and then flown by MedEvac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Damages were disabling to the truck. Troopers said Strohl is suspected of DUI and the probe into the accident is continuing.
