The Carbon County commissioners adopted a proclamation Thursday that declares October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a serious problem all over the world and the Domestic Violence Service Center has worked diligently to offer support and help to women who have been victims of abuse. Accepting the proclamation is Jolene Miraglia, outreach director of the Domestic Violence Service Center, second from right. She is receiving the proclamation from Commissioners Charles Getz, left; William O'Gurek, chairman, second from left; and Wayne Nothstein. A hotline is in place for victims of domestic violence, and physical, mental and emotional abuse and is available 24 hours a day. If you or anyone you know has been abused and needs help, call the center hotline at 1-800-424-5600.
