Tamaqua class of 1949 reunites
The 60th anniversary reunion of the Tamaqua High School Class of 1949 was held Sept. 12 at Valley Country Club in Sugarloaf. Fifty-four people attended, including 35 classmates.
Tony Maff served as toastmaster and conducted the class roll call.
Mary Brennan Schock, Monica Tuite Heisler and Kitty Coleman Andregic led the group in paying tribute to 62 deceased members of the class. Thirteen died since the last reunion.
Recognition was given to those class members who have attended every class reunion. They are: Ann Kirk Broda of York; Howard Jones of Douglassville; Ken Pfeil of Wilmington, Del.; Lois Roeder Reeser of Lancaster; and Anne Cooper Cope, Florina Falasca Martin, Ruby Houser Knott, Lowell Koch, Tony Maff and Pete Pruett, all of Tamaqua.
The invocation and benediction were given by Bill Walton of Gratz. Throughout the afternoon, music was provided by Mike Shema, pianist.
The following class members served on the planning committee: Kitty Coleman Andregic, Bob Boettger, June Feathers Camerini, Anne Cooper Cope, Monica Tuite Heisler, Ken Heisler, Ruby Houser Knott, Tony Maff, Florina Falasca Martin, Pete Pruett, Lois Roeder Reeser and Jim Ziogas.
