Another teen killed in Lehigh accident
Another high school senior was killed on Monday in a crash along a Lehigh County road.
State police at Fogelsville said Shaunice Jarjous, 17, of New Tripoli, a senior at Northwestern Lehigh High School in New Tripoli, died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:55 p.m. along Werleys Corner Road, about 120 feet south of Bausch Rd., in Lowhill Township.
Troopers said Jarjous was driving a 1995 Jeep southbound when she lost control of the vehicle as she attempted to negotiate a left curve. The Jeep continued out of control and traveled through the intersection with Bausch Road and entered the 5300 block of Werleys Corner Road.
The Jeep then traveled off the south berm for about 75 feet where it struck a small embankment and root cluster. The Jeep then became airborne for a short distance before striking a large tree.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:03 p.m. by the coroner's office. Damages to the Jeep were extensive.
Reportedly, she was a varsity cheerleader and a member of the high school track and field team.
On Saturday, just a few miles from the scene, two other high school seniors died in a three-vehicle crash. Killed in that accident were Russell Jacoby IV, 17, of Slatedale, a senior at Northern Lehigh High School, Slatington; and Angelica Fox, 17, of Nazareth, a senior at Nazareth Area High School.
