State police at Bethlehem have not released any further details of a fatal accident that involved a Nesquehoning man and four other individuals from Carbon County.

Troopers said William Barron, 22, of 120 Stock St., died in the crash that occurred about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday at a ramp from Route 22 going north onto MacArthur Road, in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

An earlier report indicated Barron was the driver of the vehicle but it was reported by the Lehigh County coroner's office that Barron was a passenger in the car.

The TIMES NEWS learned from other sources that there were five persons in the vehicle, all from the Panther Valley area, reportedly three from Nesquehoning and two from Lansford.

Troopers have not released the names of any of the other persons in the car, all of whom were injured.

A news release from state police stated the vehicle was driven westbound on Route 22 and attempting to go north on MacArthur Road. The car slid off the ramp and into a ditch, the report further stated.

The report by state police adds, "Names of those involved are being withheld pending the investigation."

Troopers asked anyone who might have witnessed the accident to call them at (610) 861-2026.
