The artistic talents of a familiar face will be on display this week at the Palmerton Frame & Gallery.

Danette Gower, who co-owns the business, will be the artist of the month for the First Fridays Art Show this Friday.

Gower said she is humbled by the prospect.

"I am honored to share my artwork with the people of Palmerton and the surrounding areas," Gower said. "Many people always ask me 'when is your show?' and I reserved October for just that."

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gower said she would like to donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society.

Gower said she believes there's an organized group in the Blue Mountain Health/Gnaden Huetten campus that's raising funds for breast cancer research.

Primarily self-taught, Gower has recently studied under William Wentz of Palmerton.

"My works are primarily done in watercolor, but I have also done a few acrylics," she said. "My subjects are vast in difference from landscapes/wildlife/ local venues."
