Tamaqua YES students tour Highwood USA

Tamaqua Area High School's YES students tour Highwood USA, a plastic lumber manufacturer located in the TIDE Industrial Park in Hometown, as part of the YES Program curriculum. This is Tamaqua's first year offering YES, a 120-hour, one-credit, year-round elective whose purpose is to help students increase their basic job skill knowledge. The curriculum also includes four tours of local businesses so students can learn more about the local career opportunities available. Tamaqua has approximately 55 seniors enrolled in the program. The Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Council, Inc., Pottsville, administers the program in northeast Pennsylvania. Here, Ross Davis, Highwood CQA Tech, explains some of the manufacturing process to the Tamaqua High YES students.
