Coal Cracker teams place third in tournaments
The Coal Crackers volleyball program picked up a pair of third place finishes in recent tournaments.
The U-18 team competed in an AAU Volleyball East Tournament at Albright College. The team went 10-0 in preliminary round play and won its quarterfinal round match before being knocked off in the semifinals by Smackdown of Hanover, Pa. The Coal Crackers, who won three straight tournaments to start the season, had improved its individual game record to 45-0 before the streak ended in the semis.
The Coal Crackers U-16 team also placed third in a Volleyball East Tournament at Lancaster Bible College. The team bounced back after starting pool play with a 1-3 mark to finish 5-3 and qualify for the medal round. After winning in the quarterfinals, they lost in the semifinals.
