Fishing derby
The Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its Second Annual Fishing Derby on April 10 at the Rabbit Run Reservoir.
Hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in adult and child categories for the highest total weight of fish caught.
Pre-registrations are now being accepted at the chamber office, 114 W. Broad St., and at Tom's Auto and Marine, Greenwood Street and Mountain Avenue.

YMCA hunt
The Tamaqua YMCA will hold its First Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday. Festivities will begin at noon and include egg painting, face painting, coloring and more.
The public is welcome to attend.
The YMCA is located in the former Jamesway Plaza at the east end of town.
Soccer sign ups
The Tamaqua Area Youth Soccer Association will conduct registration sessions for the new season on three dates in April. The organization is open to boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14 who reside within the Tamaqua Area School District.
Registrations will be accepted on April 17 and April 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, and on April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. All sign up sessions will be held at the Tamaqua Elementary School.
First time players must provide a birth certificate.

This year's fundraiser will be a candle sale. Parents will be permitted to make arrangements to opt out of the fundraiser.
Calvary UM
The Rev. Brian reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Easter Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include Holy Communion and special music. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
Also Easter Sunday, a sunrise service will be held at the Harry Strack Farm. The walk up the hill will begin at 6:15 a.m.
For Good Friday, a hymn sing and service will be held at 1:30 p.m., in the New Ringgold United Methodist Church.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 6 and 9:30 a.m. services this Easter Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service is available during the service. An Easter egg hunt and meal will be held following the service. The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, Consistory meeting at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at two services this Easter Sunday. A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. at Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. The second service will be at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM, prayer and Bible study and the Finance Class all meet at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, praise practice at 9 a.m.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Easter Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a brief children's message. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m. Also Easter Sunday, members of the congregation are welcome to attend a sunrise service, at the Strack Farm in New Ringgold. The procession will begin at 6:15 a.m.
The Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m.
