Child runs into side of car

A 10- year-old Tamaqua girl was transported to the Blue Mountain Health Systems Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton, Thursday evening, April 1, after running into a passing car.

Borough police report the child ran from a sidewalk in the 100 block of Pine Street into the traffic lane and struck the passenger side fender of a northbound Chevrolet Aveo. The car was being operated by Stephen Carrigan, of Ridge Terrace, Coaldale.

The child was taken to the hospital in the Tamaqua Community Ambulance. Details of her injuries were not released.
